Dr. Mark Nielsen
Dr. Mark A. Nielsen has been a physician with Internal Medicine Associates of North Platte since 1989. A native of Lincoln, Nebraska, he graduated from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha in 1986. He completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Missouri, Kansas City, in 1989. He attended the Stanford School of Sleep Medicine for two weeks of continuing education and currently reads sleep studies for Great Plains Regional Medical Center and the Nebraska Sleep Lab.
Dr. Nielsen currently serves on the hospital staff at Great Plains Regional Medical Center. Dr. Nielsen is a co-chair of the Medical Records/Utilization Review Committee at GPRMC and a former Chief of Staff. He is board certified in Internal Medicine. He is a certified Clinical Densitomitrist. Memberships include the International Society for Clinical Desitometry, American Medical Association, Nebraska Medical Association, and the Lincoln County Medical Association.
He has participated in clinical trials in Stress Urinary Incontinence, type 2 diabetes, West Nile Virus, Chronic Kidney Disease, reduction of cardiovascular events with Aranesp® Therapy, and the effects of calcium supplements on osteoporosis. He currently is a consultant for Odyssey Research and is the medical director of Centennial Park Nursing Home.
Dr. Nielsen is married and has three children. During his free time, he enjoys flying, hunting, fishing, snowboarding, and spending time with his family.
